Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital. Ellis Island, New York Harbor.
There’s a huge history to this place – my maternal grandparents came through Ellis in the early 1900’s and the Save Ellis Island Foundation has the daunting challenge of preserving or more accurately “arresting” the current condition of the facilities (for history’s sake if nothing else). This is an active organization fund raising to continue its work on the hospital building and grounds that are an important part of the Ellis “story” and “experience”.
A multi-year effort - "Thrown from the Past" is a photographic study of a closed silk mill in western Maryland. Honored that this series was selected as a Critical Mass Finalist for 2014.
